Buying consoles off craigslist?

So here's my situation: My PS3 got the old YLOD and I'm not interested in paying Sony 150 to get a console that will probably break in a year again. So I looked on craigslist and find someone selling a new KZ3 Bundle for 250, says he bought 2 and couldn't return the second. Now I'm very wary of craigslist but this deal may be my best bet. What I'm wondering is what I should do to best ensure the quality of the console? I'll ask for something like a receipt or proof of purchase of course, but is there anything else I should inquire?
