How to install radeon x1600? PLease help!?

I just bought a Radeon x1600. OK, Here what i did: First, Put the card in the AGP slots, then plug in the monitor cable. Then, i started to turn on the pc and monitor, and all I see is a black screen. The power light on the monitor is orange, not green like always. My computer is 2.26 ghz, 768 rams, Dell XP. PLease help me, guys!!!
