Is Star Craft a good game series?

I was watching a trailer on TV of Star Craft 2 and to be honest it looks epic!lol. I used to play Warcraft for 2 years and i had a very bad experience with blizzard over the years so im weary of wanting to try Star craft 2,lol. My friend plays star craft and said it is VERY easy to suck in that game, he said not many people are good but just creep along and just getting by,lol....second, all in all is it fun?lol.
