My house occasionally has a rotten egg smell. Why?!?

run the hot water and see if you can smell the odor. in your hot water tank there is a rod called an anode rod and when they go bad it usually causes a rotten egg smell in your hot water. if that's the case you will have to replace the rod or the whole water heater if its old.
